There are a few items of clothing that just exude cool for me. Leather jeans are one, a rock tee is another, and of course, there's the aviator jacket. Typically made from hard wearing materials, like leather, denim or corduroy, they are both comfortable and cool, and since the classic ones that I love so much are lined with sheep skin (usually faux, so animal friendly too) they are warm to boot. Although this layered salad is usually served as a first course, it also makes a fabulous light lunch dish. Soak 6 to 8 anchovy fillets in some milk. Boil together until just tender 200g trimmed and sliced green beans, and half a seeded and diced red pepper. In the meantime, slice half an onion into rings, and skin and slice 2 medium tomatoes, and pare and slice a ¼ English cucumber very thinly. Drain and flake on 200g can of tuna in oil. Layer the beans, red pepper, tuna, onion, tomato slices and cucumber in a flattish bowl. For the delicious dressing, all you have to do is whisk together with a fork 60ml olive oil, 15ml tarragon vinegar, 1ml each of salt and paprika, 1 large clove crushed garlic, 10ml rinsed and chopped capers, a pinc h of sugar, 30ml chopped parsley, and 6 fresh, chopped basil leaves. Pour the dressing over the salad and top with the drained anchovies, a few black olives, and some sliced hard-boiled eggs. Chill and serve with hot with French bread.

If you're having an elective c-section and are smugly anticipating not dealing with bleeding after the birth - don't. I love camping. It might not be the girliest pastime, but it is relaxing, and it does allow you to see bits of the world that staying in a hotel would not. If you already have a tent, make sure that you take it out, and check that you have all the poles, pegs and other accessories, and that the canvas or fabric is in good shape – remember, if there was any moisture on the tent when you last packed it up, it may have developed mildew. Once you're sure that your tent is good, it's time to assemble your other gear. Now, unless you like sleeping on hard, cold ground, I'd recommend an air mattress as a standard piece of campi ng equipment. Sleeping bags, a gas stove and a lantern are other essentials, and you may want to take a fold up table and some chairs, or whatever else makes your trip a little more enjoyable.
