Why You Should Visit Easter Island

If you like isolation, there are few better places to find it than Easter Island, in the Pacific Ocean. Although it is officially a part of Chile, it's so isolated, in the middle of the Pacific, that there are few ties to the mainland at all. The most famous sight on Easter Island are the giant stone heads, the erection of which still baffle historians, but while they've managed to preserve these and other facets of their indigenous culture rather well, there are also commercial airports, hotels and other modern conveniences, as the island's main source of income is tourism. Aside from the impressive stone Moai, there are also volcanic craters to visit, or spend some time on the white sand beaches. Snorkeling and scuba diving are other popular pastimes on this tiny island, and for its size, it's amazing how many other activities you will find to keep you occupied!
