Although you might have arranged for a gift list through a specialist company or department store, but there will be a few guests who will choose their own personal gift for you, and bring it to the reception. Instead of trying to open these gifts there and then, make sure to have a special table set aside, in full view of everyone, so that nothing goes missing, and ask these guests to put the gifts there. If some of your guests have envelopes of money or vouchers, it would be a good idea to ask your father or the best man to keep it for you in an inside pocket until a later date. You could also have a pretty box handy for those guests who will sometimes give you cards and mementoes, which can be very hard to keep track o f at a loud reception.
