Secrets of Updating Throw Pillows

We all know by now that using small, cheap accent items, like throw pillows, can completely change the look of a room. But what if your throw pillows are all boring, or you can't afford to buy interestingly detailed ones? The good news is that it's cheap and easy to update your existing plain throw pillows at home. Simple ideas for updating pillows include sewing braid along the edges, and tassels on corners. You could also sew appliqués (available ready made from haberdashery stores) or beads onto the pillow in a design you like, or if you don't like sewing, why not try your hand at fabric painting?
