Scores of tourists will be visiting South Africa for the World Cup in June of 2010, but there are several other reasons to visit this beautiful country at the tip of Africa. One of them is located in the sleepy little fishing village of Hermanus, about an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town. You see, it's in Hermanus that you can see the Southern Right Whale from one of the very best vantage points in the Southern Hemisphere, if not the world. These giant creatures come here every spring, from around August to October each year, to breed, and they are visible even from shore. All manner of whale related activities, including an annual festival, are on offer, and the town offers all kinds of other entertainments too.
