Why Double Glazed Windows are Worth Considering

With the proposed carbon taxes and and rise in energy costs, you need to save on electrical and gas costs in every way possible. Double glazed windows can help with this, because they make your house more energy-efficient. The energy saving is achieved by the insulation provided by double glazed windows. The window panels are made of two panes of glass, with a small air gap. The air gap forces much of heat coming from the outside to be reflected back, so in summer, your cooling costs less. The same principal applies to heat escaping from inside your house during winter : most of it is reflected back inside, saving on heating costs. Combined with decent curtains and possible even shutters, you w ill lose very little heat via your windows. Double glazed windows also stop noise from entering and leaving your house, so there is less disturbance to your neighbors when you decide to crank up your sound system!
