Why Canopy Tours are a Great Holiday Activity

The first canopy tours were started in the forests of Costa Rica, originating from scientists and biologists using platforms and cables to study plant life from above the forest canopy. It developed into a form of eco-tourism to promote conservation, educate people and provide a thrilling way of viewing the forest for visitors. The concept of Canopy Tours has grown into something of a franchise, with sites springing up all around the world, including Monteverde in Costa Rica, North Georgia and West Virginia Zip Line Tours and the Magaliesberg and Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours in South Africa. On visiting one of these venues, visitors are given safety procedures to follow and equipment to use for the zip line t ours. They then go to the starting point of the tour, at the highest section of the forest and progress to a series of platforms via sliding along the suspended steel cables. At each platform, guides tell visitors what to look for and give them brief information about the natural life they will encounter.
