Once you know the scent of cilantro, it is one of those that you will simply never forget. It is also a taste that you will either love or hate. Cilantro is actually the leaves of the coriander plant, which is an herb from the parsley family. It is grown mainly in California, and is used extensively in Middle Eastern, Indian, and Thai food, as well as a variety of Mexican dishes. This is also one of the herbs that have been used the longest, with mentions in texts that date back thousands of years. To use the herb, crush or tear it into curries, stir-fries, Mexican dishes or into a wide variety of dips and sauces. It can also be used as a garnish on a wide variety of exotic dishes, and is also great turned into an exotic type of pesto, particularly when s erved with seafood.
