Cape Town is a great tourist destination, with something for everyone. For the more adventurous, thrill-seeking traveler, there are a couple of extreme activities on offer. Probably the most exciting and unusual activity is 'cage diving' with sharks. South African beaches are known for their shark presence, especially in Durban and Cape Town. The large seal population in False Bay, Cape Town attracts lots of Great White Sharks. Typically, tour operators have a whole day devoted to cage diving. Breakfast and light lunch, as well is served and tourists are given instruction on how to use the diving equipment and safety procedures. They are then taken to the shark hotspots, such as Gaansbaai Harbor and the speci al diving cages are lowered into the sea with the tourists safely inside. The sharks are attracted to the cage area via meat or fish chunks being distributed into the water. The sharks feed on this bait, often getting into a bit of a frenzy and investigating the cages that are in their midst
