How to Use Feng Shui in Your Home

Feng Shui is an ancient form of Chinese interior design. The idea is that every place has a flow of chi, or energy, and Feng Shui is a means of laying out the elements of your home in such a way that they best promote the flow of chi around your personal space. The very first step in making sure that your home has good chi is to do a thorough spring clean. That means cleaning windows, decluttering and organizing. All of these help to make sure that the flow of energy, including light and air, through your home is unimpeded. Color is not that important in Feng Shui, but how it makes you feel is. So make sure that the colors you choose to use in the various sectors of your home evokes the right feelings for you. Choose light curtai ns and window treatments, as heavy drapes will impede the flow of chi, and make sure that furniture is laid out in such a way that it does not impede foot traffic.
