How to Cope with Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy is a brain condition that causes muscle weakness, is quite common, and can be mild or severe. The cause of cerebral palsy is not known, but studies have shown that many cases arise before birth. Although cerebral palsy doesn't go away, it does not deteriorate either. The symptoms vary according to the child's age, and the severity of the condition. Children who have cerebral palsy very often have normal intelligence, but because of weakness, cannot show this, especially if their speech is impaired. Make the most of your child's abilities, and remember that he is more than capable of loving, thinking, and learning, but he has physical limitations, which make these hard to convey. To keep his limbs mobile, do stretching and physiotherapy techniques at home, as well as speech therapy, which is also often necessary.
