A car with nice clean, shiny paintwork not only looks good, but can also save money in the long term. Having clean, waxed paintwork on your car's body means that dirt can be washed off easily. Hence, water from rain and dew beads and slides off, instead of evaporating and leaving patchy residue marks. Dirt and the buildup of oxidized paint dulls the colour of the car and traps moisture. The moist dirt can be very mildly corrosive and start damaging the paint surface. Damaged, thin paint eventually causes little patches of rusty metal to come to the surface and once the metal in the bodywork is unprotected by paint, the rust spreads quickly. If you happened to park under a pole or tree frequented by birds, make sure you wash off any bird droppings as soon as you can. There is a lot of acid from fruit that birds eat and this is very corrosive to your car's paint.
