How to Keep Kids Happy on a Road Trip

If you've ever been on a road trip with a small child, or two, you'll know that keeping them calm, quiet and happy in the car is just about impossible. Just about, but not quite. The first rule is not to expect them to sit still for too long. You will want to make regular stops along your route, to let them out of the car to stretch their legs and visit the toilet, or even to play. This will have a market impact on their behavior in the car! Another good idea is to stock up on books, toys and non sugary, healthy snacks and drinks for them to enjoy while in the car. A hungry, thirsty or bored child is not a pleasure to travel with – believe me! Also, if it's the first time you're taking a long trip, take a short trial run be fore hand. This will help to identify problems like motion sickness, and you can prepare ahead by getting medical advice or medication to counter the problem.
