Why Kissing Girls Went from Taboo to To Do

Had you asked any self respecting star in the seventies or eighties to kiss another woman, you'd have been met with a flat out no. Unless it was a potentially Oscar winning screenplay, and even then, the censors would have been up in arms. However, it's now de rigueur for women around the world to lock lips with their friends, in public, and it's the Hollywood machine, and the actors, singers and stars that make it up, that are the reason. Stars like Madonna and Britney Spears locking lips on stage, and songs like Katie Perry's I Kissed a Girl, have all contributed to a much more forgiving atmosphere, that means it s okay these days to be more than friends with your gal pals. However, how much of this is freedom of choice, and how much is d esigned to shock and titillate? Time will tell.
