How to Wear Metallics without Looking Kitsch

When I think of metallic kitsch, the first thing that springs to mind is those seventies style gold lame cocktail dresses. Cool in their own way, if you're feeling retro, but not exactly what you would call subtle. In other words, not something you'd wear to an office cocktail party or an office function. However, there are ways to mix a little glittery metallic into your everyday clothes. The key is to practice subtlety. For instance, instead of that gold lame cocktail dress, why not find a shimmery cami, and wear it under a great suit? An even subtler approach would be to wear a pair of metallic heels, or a bag or belt that shines, with an otherwise plain outfit. A slightly metallic shift with a gauzy overlay is another option, w hich will show off flashes of bling as you move, but not be so blinding that your friends need to wear shades!
