We all have it. Personal or business related information that we don't want anyone else to know about. That is private or secret, and that we now need to get rid of. The only trouble is, as you have probably already heard, even deleting information from your hard drive does not guarantee that it's permanently gone. In fact, just deleting it just sends it to the recycle bin anyway, which is easily accessible to anyone! If you want to permanently delete something without first sending it to the recycle bin, then holding in the shift key does the trick. If, however, you are selling or giving away your computer, and you want all of your information safely removed, then the options are to first back it up, and then format your hard drive, or to destroy the drive, and rather fit a new one. Information lingers even on water or fire damaged drives, so proper removal is essential to ensure your safety.
