Secrets or Organizing Your Hall or Entrance Way

In terms of architectural design, your hall or entrance way is a transition from the vast space outside your house, to the more intimate, smaller volume of space inside your home. What you need for a natural, flowing transition from the outside to the passages and rooms of your house, is a space that is open and spacious-looking, before entering into the smaller rooms. To create the illusion of space, make sure your hallway is cleared of clutter. Any bulky, non-essential furniture should be removed. What you need is a coat rack, a receptacle to keep umbrellas and walking sticks and a key rack. Many of these items could be kept in a discrete cupboard. There will be a lot of foot traffic, so have an easy to clean surface like wooden or tiled flooring.
