Secrets of VBAC

When it comes to VBAC, or Vaginal Birth After Caesarean, many women do not realize that it is possible. There are a few guidelines though. First, you need to be younger than 35. Any pregnancy carries greater risk after 35, and VBAC is not an advisable option. Your doctor will also consider how many children you have had, and how many pregnancies. Neither should exceed four. You should also have had your last child twenty-four months or more before the current pregnancy. Even if your doctor gives you the all clear for VBAC, if your labor lasts longer than twelve hours, you will also have to have a caesarean – this is to protect you and your baby. Therefore, while it is possible to have a vaginal birth after a c-section, there are many factors to consider, and you might find that you still have to have a c-section.
