Secrets of the Tweed Suit

Tweed used to be something that only old men wore, in the Scottish highlands, when duck hunting. Not anymore though. In recent years, tweed has snuck into just about everything else we wear, and it's become a winter staple. Getting it right can still be tricky though. Firstly, you want to make sure that the tweed items you choose are not too heavy. Heavy, thick tweeds are going to add bulk to your body, so rather opt for lighter ones. Next, there's color. Grays and browns may be traditional, but soft lavenders or greens are a lot more feminine, particularly if you pair the rough fabric of tweed with a silky shirt or camisole. Tweed also works well with other utilitarian fabrics, like denim and leather, but remember to keep the cuts feminine, and to add a few soft, floaty fabrics for interest.
