Even though you love your new baby to bits, and cannot believe you ever lived without them, chances are, if you are like most moms, you wish you could get back that pre pregnancy belly back. The good news is that you can, with a little work. Of course, diet is critical. You need to eat sensibly, especially if you are breast-feeding, as this can drain nutrients quickly. Breast-feeding itself, and more specifically, oxytocin, the hormone produced when breast-feeding, also helps your body return to normal. Exercise is the other important factor, and crunches, sit-ups and other belly flattening exercises, combined with strength training, and gentle cardio, like walking with your baby, will go a long way t o improving the tone of your belly. Just remember to clear it with your doctor first – especially if you have had a c-section!
