Whether for business or pleasure, you might find that at some stage during your pregnancy, you need, or want to travel by air. There are a few things to bear in mind. Firstly, air travel in your last six weeks of pregnancy may trigger labor. For this reason, some airlines don't allow women further than thirty-five weeks to travel by air. If you are able to book a flight, check that your travel insurance covers you during pregnancy – many do not. Also, try to book your seat near the bulkhead or emergency exit, where you can stretch your legs. An aisle seat, with easier access to the bathroom, can also make travelling more comfortable. Last, but not least, make sure that the airline serves meals that are pregnancy safe. Avoi d known problem foods like shellfish, undercooked meat, whole fruits that may have pesticides on them, or unripe cheeses.
