More and more women are choosing to have natural childbirth, and many of them are opting to do that at home. If you plan to do this, the first person you should speak to is your OB/GYN. He or she might know of a great midwife, or even be prepared to deliver your child, at home, themselves. They will also be able to tell you whether that option is safe for you. Once you have got the all clear, and if your doctor does not assist at home births, a good place to start looking is to speak to friends or family. If you are attending birthing classes, your instructor may also have a few ideas. Then there is the internet and even the yellow pages, although, when choosing a midwife, as with anything else, be sure to get references &ndash ; you need to be sure your midwife knows what he or she is doing!
