Secrets of Dealing with Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy

Unfortunately, for many pregnant women, the added pressure of a baby pressing on your intestinal tract while pregnant will often result in hemorrhoids. Because you are pregnant, and because this is usually temporary, some of the more common hemorrhoid treatments, such as surgery, are just not an option. Usually, sitz baths are recommended for hemorrhoid treatment, but since bathing in very hot water can be dangerous for your baby, you will need to adapt the procedure a little. Instead of sitting in a very hot bath, run hot water over a washcloth, and place another in cold water. Press first the hot cloth, and then a few minutes later the cold, onto the affected area. This helps to contract the hemorrhoids, and should give you some relief. Also, remember to eat right, and try not to strain when you do visit the toilet, as this can cause, or worsen, hemorrhoids.
