How to Choose and Use Glass and Perspex Furniture

Glass as a furniture element is great for customized coffee table-tops and as a surfacing for larger dining tables and lounge tables. Glass can be sandblasted, allowing you to create patterns and borders on the surface. One popular sandblasting technique is to create a chess board on a glass-topped coffee table. Buying a set of trendy, modern Perspex chess pieces and storing these on an open shelf below the table will look cool and be handy, if you like the game. Perspex is a form of very strong plastic made from acetone. It is made to be chip and crack resistant and can be highly polished. This strong, light material can be cut to any shape and is cheaper than wood or metal. Perspex can be colored too. Choose shapes and designs that match existing furniture pieces in your home and incorporate other materials into your Perspex furniture. An idea is to use Perspex for horizontal elements and wooden carvings or small resin statues as the vertical elements in a table.
