Knowing when to sell shares that you have invested in is more crucial to long term financial gain, in some ways, than investing in the right shares to begin with. Here are a few tips to help you decide when to sell. First off, don't get emotionally attached to any of your shares. Sometimes, for reasons ranging from mismanagement to any other legitimate cause, like failure to adapt to new markets, shares will fall. In that case, it's best to make a clean break, and walk away. Of course, if the entire sector, or the market, starts to drop, and your shares along with it, it's probably just the trough of the economic cycle – which means that there will be a peak to follow. Don't panic and sell in those situations – simply ride out the wave.
