How to Save Fuel Driving Under Normal Conditions

With rising fuel costs and new taxes being imposed on motorists, it is important to be economical while driving. Firstly, get rid of unnecessary stuff in your car. Anything heavy that isn't needed should be removed, as well as roof racks that aren't needed. Making your car more aerodynamic and lighter reduces fuel consumption. Do not press down on the accelerator unnecessarily, especially when idling in traffic or on start-up. Accelerate smoothly and 'read' the traffic flow. Sprinting between red lights and braking hard uses more fuel than cruising at a safe speed. Do not idle for more than 30 seconds after starting your car. The engine lacks lubrication when idle. Inflate your tires to the correct pressure. Under-inflated tires reduce the h andling ability and grip, forcing the engine to use more fuel because of the extra resistance.
