How to Make Perfect Coleslaw

Coleslaw is one of the easiest, cheapest, and useful salads to prepare, and is enjoyed by almost everyone. The great thing is that the ingredients are available all year round, at very reasonable prices. To your raw, shredded cabbage, you can add one or more extra vegetables, such as shredded carrots, which give the salad extra color, sliced celery, or chopped cauliflower. Toasted sunflower seeds, chopped peanuts, and sultanas will add extra flavor and texture. Coleslaw dressings are usually sweeter and more acid than most other salad dressings. One good dressing to make is to stir together ½ cup mayonnaise, 1 to 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Mix well into the coleslaw, and serve.
