How to Clean Grout

If there's one thing that can make your bathroom look old, tired and downright dirty, it's dirty grout. Of course, while cleaning mildew off walls and tiles is a fairly simple affair, getting it off grout is not always so easy. I like to use a two phase approach to this problem. First, I make a very strong bleach solution in a spray bottle. I then apply this liberally to the grout, and leave it for a few minutes. Usually, with a little brushing with an old nail brush, this takes care of the problem. However, when the mildew is particularly stubborn, there's a simple solution in your kitchen. Baking soda, mixed to a paste with water, and used to scrub the grout where the mildew is worst, will get rid of it fast. All that's left to do then is rinse with water, and wipe dry.
