How to Live With a Pet Allergy

If you're a pet lover, but you or a family member has a pet allergy, there are a few things that you can do, other than re-homing the pet, or avoiding keeping animals altogether that can help alleviate the problem. Firstly, make sure that your pet sleeps outside the house (in the case of a dog) or in an area that your family does not spend a lot of time, like a basement, laundry room or garage. Also, make sure that when your pets are in the rest of the house, you keep them off carpets and upholstered furniture. Another must is to have your pet groomed at least every week, as it's the dead skin and saliva, known as dander, which resides on their skin, which really causes allergies. Also make sure that you vacuum with a vacuum cleaner fitted wit h a special filtration system once a week.
